Archipelago house
Project details
The house in Archipelago is half-time for a family of two. The main and largest part of the house is given over to the communal space on the ground floor, which includes a kitchen with a large dining table, a living room and a library with a selection of valuable books and artefacts from the client's collection.
The library wraps around to the study, which is designed as a 'house within a house' - with a separate exit, the only one on the facade. Further beyond the study is a private area with a master bedroom on the ground floor and two guest bedrooms above.
The house stands by the water, and its shape forms a courtyard, closing off from the neighbours. The 'street' and 'courtyard' facades are polar in their language, and in this project the internal facade becomes the main one. A terrace runs the entire length of the ground floor from the inside, access to which is provided from anywhere in the public areas of the house.
